A federal judge ruled that Google can no longer enter into exclusive distribution deals worth billions of dollars with to make its search engine the default option on phones and other devices, according to news reports on Monday.
The ruling, part of the government’s landmark antitrust case against Google-parent Alphabet, stopped short of ordering a breakup of Google, a move that would have represented one of the government’s most drastic efforts in decades to curb the power of a monopoly.
